Dentures
At Sheldon Family Dental, both Dr. Ali and Dr. Carla Ismail provide a variety of denture options to match your lifestyle and needs. Modern dentures are superior to old-fashioned dentures in both their appearance and function, as they use updated natural-looking materials that are lighter in weight and designed to fit more snugly.
Complete (Full) Traditional Dentures
If you are missing all of your teeth on the upper or lower arch, a full set of dentures can give you a natural-looking and functional smile again. Dr. Ali or Dr. Carla will help you choose a denture design that complements both your facial features and age, so they look more like natural teeth.
We begin by taking impressions of the teeth to start the denture process. If you have extractions planned, we can also create a temporary immediate denture so that you don’t have to go without teeth while you heal and before your final denture is designed.
Today’s denture teeth come in a variety of shades, shapes, and lengths so that you never end up with a boxy appearance like dentures of the past. The denture base is a pink resin material to match the color of your gums.
Full dentures must be kept moist overnight or when not in use. We will provide a denture case to store your dentures safely. Occasional relines may be necessary to keep dentures fitting well. Most of the time, dentures last around 5-8 years before they need replacement.
Partial Dentures
If remaining teeth are healthy, a partial denture can replace multiple missing teeth at once. Small clips secure the partial denture to remaining teeth to keep it in place.
Because we want you to feel great about your smile even with missing teeth, both Dr. Ali and Dr. Carla take great care to match your partial denture to your natural teeth for a seamless appearance. Partial dentures have metal, flexible, and pink acrylic base options.
Implant-Supported Dentures
Many of our patients today prefer dentures that don’t move at all. Awkward slipping and falling can make dentures inconvenient and limit the diet. Using either 4-6 dental implants, our dentists can anchor a denture in place. Implant dentures come in both removable and fixed varieties. Our dentists will discuss your options with you so that you can make an informed choice.
Denture Care
Because your bone and jaw shape can change over time due to bone loss, weight gain or loss, and other factors, we recommend that you have regular dental checkups, and we will examine your dentures’ fit and make sure they are not damaged or cracked. We also provide life-saving oral cancer screenings at your regular dental visits.
